Training

Canam is committed to the upskilling and training of our people at all levels.

Safety accreditations are a must for all of our site staff. In conjunction with Sitesafe, Canam provides ongoing training to ensure that all of our Site Managers and Foreman achieve Site Safe Supervisor Gold class as a minimum. All of our Site Managers and Foreman are also trained in First Aiders.

As part of our continuous training plan Canam provides internal training to Project Managers, Site Managers & Quantity Surveyors. This is an exciting initiative that is in addition to existing training topics and programmes that are focused through the monthly PM / SM & QS meetings. This training is presented by an external training provider over six half day workshops and focuses on Team Performance.

Canam also works with Unitec and other educational institutions, annually offering students placements on our CMT and QST Cadetships. With Canam a CMT and QST trains to become an experienced and qualified Manager in the commercial construction industry. The internal training scheme runs in conjunction with the Part Time Diploma and/or Degree programme. In addition to the CMT’s and QST’s completing their formal qualifications, our CMT and QST internal log book provides a structured approach to overseeing and recording that they are also receiving the ” on the job training” that they require to ultimately become Site Managers and Quantity Surveyors.
