The Waitemata District Health Board (WDHB) Building was a negotiated Design and Build project secured by Canam in 2005. The building comprises four levels of Offices, Consulting Rooms, Meeting Rooms, Kitchens and Common Area. There are toilet facilities on all levels. The building is serviced by two 13 person lifts and a scissor stair providing two separate fire egress stairs from each level.

Due to the poor ground conditions the building is founded on reinforced concrete piles and reinforced concrete foundations. The building structure is reinforced insitu concrete columns, prestressed concrete shell beams and a unispan flooring system with timber infill. The exterior walls are all precast concrete panels with aluminium window joinery.

The roof structure is structural steel with longrun Zincalume slat roofing and membrane lined box gutters. The building is full air conditioned. Fire protection systems include both heat and smoke detectors. On ground carparking is provided on the balance of the site for staff and visitor parking.

Canam drove the use of precast components contributing to a comparatively short construction period and a very cost efficient building.
