This project involved the extensive interior refurbishment of this well known Remuera landmark. The Library was closed to the public for the six week contract duration; however the majority of the books and furniture were left in the aisles. This was just one of the many challenges Canam had to overcome in the execution of the works. Another challenge was that a large amount of additional work was revealed once the demolition work had taken place and this work had to take place within the original contract period. The scope of works included the strengthening of the existing historical building, the construction of additonal space for the children’s book area and new offices and amenities within the existing library envelope. Careful planning and methodologies were developed and implemented throughout the construction period. The completion date was achieved on time and the Library’s public opening took place as planned. Canam Interiors are proud to be associated with the refurbishment of this heritage building. |
