The Northern Steamship Building was originally built in 1901 and after being remodelled in 1920 remained untouched until now. The refurbishment of this building included seismically upgrading the structure, acoustically treating the building to accommodate office tenant leasing on the upper floors, and a café/restaurant on the ground floor. The scope of works included the complete external decorative restoration, the supply and installation of new services throughout, a new central core staircase system and a new lift. The restoration of The Northern Steamship Building forms part of the redevelopment programme for the Britomart Heritage Precinct and Canam Interiors is pleased to have been involved in such a project. |
