Maori Television is located in an existing building in central Newmarket, which was totally transformed to house the new state of the art facilities required for a National TV Station. The fitout has a funky yet traditional feel about it with its stunning reception area, feature stairwell, curved and angled walls and ceilings incorporating traditional Maori carvings and artefacts. Some significant works included a new lift, raised floor to house the significant cabling that was required, (70km of data cabling alone), high quality sound rated walls and new façade and roof, and services. This project was very complex with the different materials that were used, the number of sub trades involved and the time frame that was set. In addition to the construction complexities Canam was required to commence with the relocation of new and existing staff into the first floor office space whilst concurrently completing the ground floor studio fitout. Canam rose to the challenge and finished the project in the time frame specified. We are proud to have been associated with this project and wish the station every success in its future. |
