This iconic and internationally award winning facility includes six basketball / netball courts with 5,000 seating capacity, a gymnasium, a climbing wall, a childcare centre, a 500 people function room, bars, rugby clubs and a specialist weight training centre where the All Blacks train regularly.
Canam’s innovative approach to construction enabled this project to proceed within the available budget and without altering the architecture. About 285 precast panels were constructed on site in intricate shapes with cut outs, penetrations and with some of them weighing over 40 tonnes to support the seating bleachers and roof.
The project included many environmentally sustainable design elements like innovative cooling and heating systems utilising the heat generated by the audience to drive the ventilators and an array of other energy saving devices.
The 12,000m2 state of the art national and international sporting facility was completed on time and the client’s quality standards and cost expectations were met. |
